In reading this week we talked about how we can make connections to the books and stories we read.
In math we finished chapter 7 -- talking about different strategies to help us remember our multiplication and division facts. A couple weeks ago we started a new online program called Xtra Math in class ( I have a link to it on this blog ). This website allows each student to practice their addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts! We have been doing it almost every day in math but your child can keep working on it at home too!
In Bible we started a new unit talking about other countries and people who do not know about Jesus. This week we focused on how we can pray for them!
We also started our country reports this week! Please, please, please check your child's Friday Folders because there is a lot in them this week! Most importantly there is an instruction sheet that tells about the specific job that your student has for their country. They will put their information on their display board with the rest of their team's information as we get closer to cultural fair day.
In class a big part of this country project is learning how to work effectively as a team. The kids are learning how to use productive, supportive, language as they work together to find out facts about their specific country.
Next week is Service Week, which means a couple of things for our class. First, we will have NO specials next week (no P.E., music, art, Japanese). Our schedule also changes because on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday afternoon (from 1-3 pm) our class will be heading to the gym for games and activities put on by the high school and middle school students.
The students also have the opportunity to bring in clean used clothing and toys to send to needy families in the Philippines. These items need to be brought in to the office by Wednesday. February 15th.
* As always, let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Bible Verse:

Each man should give as he has decided in his heart. He should not give, wishing he could keep it. Or he should not give if he feels he has to give. God loves a man who gives because he wants to give.
