THE END OF THE 1st QUARTER

We are at the end of the first quarter of our 2016-1017 school year!! WOW time certainly is flying! It has been a great few months of the school year and I am looking forward to many more to come :) Here's a look at some of the things we've been doing this week in 3rd grade....

In Social Studies the kids are learning all about the 13 original colonies in the United States. The past 2 days they were busy making models of the first settlement called Jamestown.

In Science we have begun talking about rocks! Yesterday we made a 'recipe book' learning about what makes up the 3 main types of rocks (Igneous, Sedimentary, Metamorphic). Today we listened to a Rock Cycle Song!! (link below) For those of you Queen (an 80s rock band) fans you will recognize the main theme... :)

Next Week

I Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood,

a holy nation, a people belonging to God,

into his wonderful light.

Other Important Notes:

  • November 3 = school conferences -- I will be sending more information about these on Monday.

  • November 4 = Field Trip -- Our third grade field trip to Okinawa World!! I am very excited for this! I sent home the permission slip today, so please fill this out and have your child return it to me as soon as possible!

  • November 12 = Walkathon -- Please SIGN up for this wonderful event!! It will be a fun day full of walking, snacks/refreshments, games, fellowship and a great opportunity to raise money for our school....and get a cool t-shirt :) Please return the forms & money to me by October 28!!

  • Thinking ahead into the future we have our annual Christmas Program! We have begun practicing for our songs in music class & can say the third grade is really rocking it! I have heard them and they sound so good!! So, I also sent home a Volunteer form for helping out with this wonderful program the students put on. We could always use the help to make this a spectacular event!

Have a safe and relaxing weekend!
