I finally got a class picture on Friday!

This week in 3rd grade we have been busy learning & growing!

Growing...something we all do. We grow in relationships, in wisdom, in faith, in trust, in belief. Our body grows and so do our minds. It is also something our plants are doing in 3rd grade! This week in Science we got to witness our tiny bean seeds begin to grow into baby plants (called seedlings)!!!

In Reading we looked at how we RETELL stories: we look at the setting, the characters, the problem, what happened in the beginning, what happened next, then what happened, finally how the story ended & how the problem was solved. We will continue that theme next week as we look how we can write our own personal stories with these concepts in mind.

In Bible we finished up our Creation story unit -- creating our mobiles of each day of creation. Parents, hopefully you got to see them because the students brought them home Friday. I am very impressed with many of our wonderful artists we have in 3rd grade.

In Math we looked at strategies that can help us add mentally -- especially adding larger numbers. We learned how to add larger numbers and practiced using manipulatives to help us add.

NEXT WEEK

Spelling words:

post coast toe cove below mold motor coach rope alone slowly throw chosen follow stroke rowboat tomorrow opening minutes pumpkin

Challenge words typhoon

definition (the meaning of a word)

Bible Verse:

Psalm 139:14

How you made me is amazing and wonderful. I praise you for that.

What you have done is wonderful. I know that very well.

It looks like there is a possibility for a typhoon early next week...I have yet to experience an Okinawa typhoon (after all these "false alarms" I have my doubts) -- but it is good to be prepared! Remember to check the OCSI website & Jupiter for updates on school closing. And remember that the kids can access MyMath, RazKids and Spelling City online at home. These are great resources for at home work :)

Have a safe and wonderful weekend. May you continue to GROW.

Important Date:
