Dirt, plants & God's Creation!

This 4-day week has left us 3rd graders with dirt on our hands but songs in our hearts! We planted our bean plants in science today!! We were very excited to do this; getting nice and dirty in the soil. This ties in nicely to what we are learning in Bible, the Creation of the world. We have been learning about what God created on each day --- test your child and see if they know what day God created plants :)

We talked all week about how we can read and write with EXPRESSION! Mostly in writing we looked at what punctuation does for our sentences....how we read sentences that end with a plain or period, or one that ends with an exclamation (!) or question (?) mark. The same with reading; in our Daily 5 reading time I have begun conferencing with each student. This means I meet with a few students individually every day and have them read aloud to me. We are starting to make reading goals! I have encouraged everyone to remember to read with expression when reading aloud :) (Parents, continue to encourage your children to read like this, building on this skill)

Spelling for next week is a review lesson over the first 5 chapters.

Our Bible verse for this next week is continuing to our Bible lessons on Creation. God blesses us and calls us to rule over the earth....meaning we must take care of His Creation; the earth and everything in it.

Genesis 1:28

" God blessed them and said to them, 'Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.' "

Have a safe & blessed weekend.
